...AND REPTILE HUNTING !

What a nice surprise we found at the playground today. We have seen a lizard (Dactyloidae) and we have been able to place it in an observation container. Afterwards Y2 had the chance to have a close look and identify its legs and long tail.

Earlier hid in the darkness of a tire someone noticed a strange move, it was a centipede (Scutigera coleoptrata) . We had also had the chance to enjoy its movements during our science lesson.

On Friday October the 16th  we have caught 2 grasshoppers. 

Once observation has finished we set them free

Such another great insect we have been able to observe today. A dragonfly so big it could hardly fit in our observation container. 

A green dragonfly quite big, dragonflies have provided the world with 3000 different species of this amazing insect. 

Huge eyes, wings seem injured,  but this great flier flew away when we released it from the container.

Doesn't remind you of the shape of an helicopter?

Hey something is jumping, what is it?

It's a grasshopper!

Off you go! Once we have observed the bug we let it go, we respect our friends so jumping the grasshopper goes out of the fence of the playground

In this new adventure we have collected a woodlouse, this insect is known by its ability to turn into a ball, we have called this insect ball bug

In this insect hunting session we have also found a shiny beetle.

Shiny beetle. Observing insects provides a great opportunity to practice our English. How many legs?, can you see its eyes? Does it move fast or slowly? ....

Everyone can enjoy a soft massage from an insect leg :-)

A new little friend came up during our insect hunting at Playground with Preschool kids....a spider !

Kids decided to add a flower to the container so the spider could have better views and odours

Spiders promote kid's happiness :-)
